Behavior Clip Chart
Our class will be using a combination of a Behavior Clip Chart and the website/app Class Dojo. Together, our class will formulate class rules and each child will sign what we have created. Great behavior helps to promote a positive space for students and allows them to focus on learning and growing in all of the areas of their lives.
The Behavior Clip Chart will be used in the classroom. Each student will have a clip with their name on it and begin the day on Green: Ready to Learn. As students make great choices throughout the day, they will be asked to move their clip up to the next color. If students do not make the best choices throughout the day, they could move their clip down. I encourage students to make great choices and remind them that they are never "stuck"! Students are able to move up their way back up the chart throughout the day, even if they have moved down at some point. It is important for students to know that they always have the opportunity to turn their day around!
At the end of the day, students will assess where their behavior clip ended up on the chart. If students moved up 1 color, they earn 1 Class Dojo point. If they moved up 2 colors, they earned 2 class Dojo points, and so on. Please keep in mind that the same thing occurs for students when it comes to losing Dojo points.
Each day, your child will come home with a colored star in their take home folder on their behavior calendar. Please initial this calendar each night. When the kids know that we communicate about behavior, they better understand the consequences of their choices at school. I encourage you to discuss your child's color each day and have a set of rewards and consequences at home that coordinate with the colors. For example, a blue day could earn 10 extra minutes of iPad time, or a purple day earns a special story right before bed. Some parents keep track of the stars or points and coordinate for a larger reward. There are endless options for motivation! Children respond better to a behavior system when the system is consistent at home and school!
TIPPY TOP OF PURPLE - WOW! Students who have reached the top of the purple color zone will go home with *5* Class Dojo points at the end of the day!
PURPLE - Outstanding Behavior: Student has met behavior expectations and has gone above and beyond! This level is often difficult to achieve and student has earned 4 Class Dojo points at the end of the day.
BLUE - Excellent Choices: Students has made several great choices and has earned 3 Class Dojo points at the end of the day.
TEAL - Great Effort: Student has made one/some good choices today and has earned 2 Class Dojo point at the end of the day.
GREEN - Ready to Learn: Everyone starts the day on green every morning. Please note that being on green is not a negative! Students who remain on green will earn 1 Class Dojo point at the end of the day.
YELLOW - Think About It: This level is reached when a child makes a negative choice. Warnings will be given prior to this move. If a child ends the day on yellow, 1 Class Dojo point will be deducted.
ORANGE - Make Better Choices: If negative choices continue to be made, students will have a consequence like walking during recess time or missing a fun activity. Warnings will be given prior to this move. If a child ends the day on yellow, 2 Class Dojo point will be deducted.
RED - Parent Contact: If negative choices are still made past the orange zone, I will contact home. Warnings will be given prior to this move. If a child ends the day on yellow, 3 Class Dojo point will be deducted.
Please note that I love to encourage positive behavior and LOVE having fun in the classroom. It is in the best interest of our class that we have respect for one another and come to work hard!!

Class Dojo
This is a system that we will be using throughout the day in order to remain consistent and encourage positive reinforcement. You can visit the website by clicking the button below (www.classdojo.com) or download the Class Dojo app for your iPhone, Android, or other devices. During the first week of school your child will receive a Class Dojo sign up sheet with your log in information. This tool is wonderful as it allows you to follow your child's behavior throughout the day. You can even message me directly through the app!
Students will work towards earning points in order to cash them in for prizes or special rewards in the classroom. For example, students could earn lunch with friends ("Lunch Bunch"), lunch in the classroom, a prize from the prize bin, etc. It is important that students feel praised for great behavior!
